Retail Analytics Dashboard
I worked on a small multidisciplinary team alongside a data scientist and back-end developer to design the UI and build a prototype for an internal analytics application at a large grocery store chain. The goal of the product was to accelerate data-driven decision-making around increasing sales while maximizing profitability.
Using proprietary client data, we designed a dashboard that enabled both technical and non-technical users to explore large volumes of historical data quickly and effectively, surfacing actionable insights without requiring deep analytical expertise.
Team Challenges:
Rapidly shifting goals and priorities
Working with a large and complex historical dataset
Designing primarily for iPad use with touch-based interaction
Solutions & Approach:
We began with exploratory data analysis on the proprietary dataset before designing the UI, allowing us to identify the most valuable metrics, trends, and analytical workflows to support in the interface.
Development progressed in short, iterative sprints with multiple rounds of real-world testing conducted by the client, enabling us to adapt quickly as requirements evolved.
The interface was specifically optimized for iPad usage, with adjustments to layout, spacing, and interactive elements to support touch input and ensure usability for in-store and on-the-go contexts.
